Cycling the world - Asia: 28 episode
I wake up on the sand dunes of Saudi Arabia after a humid and foggy night of wild camping. The tent is soaked so I wait for the sun to dry everything while walking barefoot across the dunes. Once the gear is finally packed I get back on the road and continue toward the border with Qatar. Along the way I spend a few hours in a petrol station restaurant charging my electronics and eating a simple meal of beans and bread.
After sunset I reach the Saudi border but decide to camp nearby under a gazebo on the garden of the boardwalk where I can also use the toilets to freshen up and shave. The next morning I grab some shakshuka at a petrol station before heading to the border crossing. The Saudi side tests my patience with more than an hour and a half of waiting just to print a document, while the Qatari side is surprisingly quick.
From there I ride toward Doha, camping once more in the desert along the way. The following day I reach the capital, ride through the famous old souk built in 2019 and follow the bike lane along the coast toward West Bay before reaching my host just outside the city at sunset.
