The 1018 and DX17 are in the classical Marksman style. They are tough and reliable. Their internals are similar to Red Ryder with tough, Nitrile piston seal and mini air tube infront. They also use gravity feed like Ryder.
Both guns are competitive with Crosman 45 up to about 5 yards. The 1018 barrel - which has a debatable tube, where to measure it - has about a 2 1/4 REAL barrel tube. the DX17 has about 2 1/2 inch tube. The 1018 needs longer break in period. I didn't mind that 5 yard accuracy came into focus at about 400 shots.
Once standing at 6 yards, the 45 out shoots both those pistols with far fewer misses. Its 3 inch barrel, and being nearly no jolt, gives it accuracy edge.
Here are options if you plan on night shooting with 45. Unlike DX17 you don't need to add it for weight. The 45 is heavy enough.
