In my crochet tutorial today I'll be showing you how to make this crochet cowrie shell applique.

For this pattern you will need any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, for the tiger cowrie I used Scheepjes Catona crochet cotton colors (162) Black Coffee, (404) English Tea and (242) Metal Gray. For the golden cowrie, I used (281) Tangerine, (105) Bridal White and (242) Metal Gray. A crochet hook, I used a 2.5mm hook. A darning needle to weave in ends, sewing thread and needle to stitch the spots to the tiger cowrie and a pair of scissors.
The finished size will be 11cm wide x 7cm high (4.25” wide x 2.75” high) for the larger cowrie shell, using 8 ply crochet cotton. The size of the cowrie shell in Catona will be 9cm wide x 6cm high (3.5" wide x 2.25" high). The medium cowrie shell will be 7.5cm wide x 5cm high (3” wide x 2” high) when using 4 ply crochet cotton. The small cowrie shell will be 6cm wide x 4cm high (2.25” wide x 1.5” high) when using 2 ply crochet cotton.
