How to crochet a Christmas tree coaster? In this beginner-friendly crochet tutorial, I show you how to create a very simple coaster with a modern Christmas tree. This coaster is great by itself or as a set. This is a great short project to add a little bit of Christmas spirit to any room in your home!
This Christmas tree coaster is a part of my Christmas four-skein challenge, where I see how many different crochet projects I can make using only four skeins of yarn: Big Twist Value Brand, 4 Medium, Acrylic: varsity red, varsity green, cream, black.

Christmas Tree Coaster Crochet Pattern:
Crochet Hook: F / 5 / 3.75MM
Yarn: 4 Medium, Big Twist Value brand, Varsity Green and Cream
Christmas Tree:
Row 1: Attach green yarn to crochet hook using a slip knot. CH 8, turn.
Row 2: In 3rd CH from crochet hook , place 1 SC in the BLO. Place 1 SC in the BLO of the remaining 5 st in the row (6 SC in total) . CH 2, turn.
Row 3: Skip CH 2, place 1 SC in each st in the row (6 SC in total). CH 2, turn.
Row 4: Skip CH 2, place 1 SC in st 1 -2, SC 2together in st 3 & 4, and place 1 SC in st 5 - 6 (5 SC in total). CH 2, turn.
Row 5: Skip CH 2, place 1 SC in each st in the row (5 SC in total). CH 2, turn.
Row 6: Skip CH 2, place 1 SC in st 1 -2, SC 2together in st 3 & 4, and place 1 SC in st 5 (4 SC in total). CH 2, turn.
Row 7: Skip CH 2, place 1 SC in each st in the row (4 SC in total). CH 2, turn.
Row 8: Skip CH 2, place 1 SC in st 1, SC 2together in st 2 & 3, and place 1 SC in st 4 (3 SC in total). CH 2, turn.
Row 9: Skip CH 2, place 1 SC in each st in the row (3 SC in total). CH 2, turn.
Row 10: Skip CH 2, SC 2together in st 1 & 2, and place 1 SC in st 3 (2 SC in total). CH 1, turn.
Row 11: Skip CH 1, SC 2together in st 1 & 2 (1 SC in total). CH 1, turn.
Row 12: Place 1 SC in st.
Cut and tie off yarn.
Coaster:
Row 1: MC, 13 DC inside MC. SL st into 2nd DC st to join (12 total DC).
Row 2: CH 2, place 2 DC in each st in the row (1st st should be placed in the same st where you placed the SL st from the previous row - 24 total DC st. SL st in 1st DC to join.
Row 3: CH 2, place *1 DC in st 1, 2 DC in st 2.* Repeat * around the row (1st st should be placed in same st where you placed the SL st from the previous row - 36 total DC st). SL st in 1st DC to join.
Row 4: Row 3: CH 2, place *1 DC in st 1 - 2, 2 DC in st 3.* Repeat * around the row (1st st should be placed in the same st where you placed the SL st from the previous row - 48 total DC st). SL st in 1st DC to join.
Cut and tie off yarn.
Combining the Parts:
Repeat 1x for back of coaster.
Tie tree portion to front side of one of the coaster halves, then tie the starting chains of the coasters together.
Attach green yarn to crochet hook using a slip knot and place 1 SC through corresponding stitches on each of the coaster halves, continue to place 1 SC in each of the corresponding stitches until you reach the 1st st. SL st into 1st st and cut and tie off yarn.
Hide all tails in between the two coaster halves.
