Washington, D.C. - Liz Cheney exemplifies cronyism during the Bush era. In 2002, Cheney was appointed to the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs amid reports that the job was created especially for her. Apparently when you dad is the Vice President you do not have to meet typical State Department qualifications. During a speech at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans Cheney proved that being the daughter of the Vice President may have been her main qualification when she remarked that Afghanistan is an Arab nation. Did she really work in the State Department or just spend that time practicing to be critic of the next administration? If Cheney worked for the State Department in the Middle East over six years, how could she make such a gaffe?

Criticism from Cheney is guaranteed, often irrational and mostly misguided, this time along the lines that President Obama is disrespecting an ally, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, by not confirming our allegiance within the past 36 hours, but if Obama made nice with Karzai, then Cheney would claim he was kowtowing to a corrupt leader. Especially after the current faux paux, Liz Cheney has no credibility left and media should stop treating her as a credible source of criticism.
