Time-lapse video of the dispersal from a rocket launched Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, from Andøya Space Center in Norway for the C-REX-2 experiment led by University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute space physicist Mark Conde and funded by NASA.

The experiment seeks to learn more about a persistent dense patch of upper atmosphere on Earth’s sun-facing side. Video by UAF graduate student Jason Ahrns, who was aboard a NASA jet photographing the experiment from off the northeast coast of Greenland.
