If you’re currently living in Alaska, and even if you’re located elsewhere, you may have heard that the sun is entering a period known as the “solar maximum,” and that this will have implications for aurora viewing. But exactly how are the two connected? In this Science for Alaska talk, C. Alex Young discusses heliophysics and how solar activity affects Earth infrastructure and aurora viewing.
