I just recorded some General Midi DOS-Games Music with the Original Wave Blaster, and I want to share some of the recordings with you. Today we start with a classic tune from "DESCENT", one of my favourite.
Creative Labs was the first to release a soundcard (the Soundblaster 16) with a 26pin header and sold the Wave Blaster as an option to enhance the OPL3-FM syntheys with sample-based General MIDI compliant wavetable synthesys (E-MU Sound Engine in this case).
The Wave Blaster features 4 MB of waverom and a 10 Mhz Motorola MC68000 CPU. The waverom comes in an interesting package of four quadratic ICs from japanese company Asahi Kasei.
This card is from 1992 so its more than 30yrs old already!
