Writ Large, in Heavy Metal
James Garvey is a self-confessed forger with 35 years of experience. Yet if you were to ask him if he's ever "done hard time", he's likely to look at you askew. Being a blacksmith is no crime. At least not yet.
James is a craftsman who works with heavy tools and heavy materials. When he
was contacted to render the David Ogilvy signature in heavy metal, his first response was "this is ambitious". But most new things are ambitious. If it were easy, someone else would have already done it.
And so, 60 years after it was first inscribed on a document, this etch of a line -- the Ogilvy signature -- became a living sculpture hanging for all to see in the Worldwide Headquarters in NYC.
