Creaming Jesus 'Stray Toasters', rarely seen video for the lead track on the 'Ditchdweller V' EP 1991, and on the 'Guilt by Association' album, '92. Active 1987-94; singer Andy Heintz now fronts prominent steam-punks The Men That Will Not Be Blamed for Nothing. They toured the UK with Fields of the Nephilim and Europe with Mercury Rev. Their third album 'Chaos for the Converted' was recorded in the USA with producer Dave Fridmann of Mercury Rev.
It's a song about toasters on the loose (obviously), carpets, head implants, female hounds, maybe sci-fi ... better explanations in the comments, please. Aah - the surrealism sourced. Andy tell us: "the song is based on the graphic novel 'Stray Toasters' by comic book artist Bill Sienkiewicz - the lyrics are from the dialogue in the novel- I sent him a copy - he loved it!" The video was the last collaboration with the late Tony Luke, who regularly made videos for the band. Andy Heintz recalls:- "I remember we went to Tony’s hired studio with a load of mates and he foolishly asked us to loosen up by having a few drinks first as he wanted us to stomp about like we were in a trance... but we overdid it and the studio got wrecked and a sink got smashed off the wall and we were thrown out before he got much footage at all.. hence the limited shots in the video... think his budget went on apologies and repairs."
