Couple Turns a Forgotten Church Into a Beautiful Home ! (By @project.restoration )

This project follows a couple from **Project Restoration** as they transform an abandoned, forgotten shed into a fully functional and surprisingly cozy living space—all while preparing for an even bigger mission: restoring a historic 19th-century church nearby.
What begins as a dusty, worn-out structure quickly becomes a carefully planned temporary home. The team starts by clearing the shed and salvaging as much original material as possible, giving new life to old timber instead of discarding it. Structural upgrades come first, with reinforced framing, new joists, and properly insulated stud walls to ensure warmth, strength, and long-term durability. Every decision balances practicality with respect for the building’s humble origins.
Inside, the transformation accelerates. The kitchen is compact but smartly designed, featuring a flat-pack system adapted with precision cuts, proper ventilation, and durable finishes. The bathroom, despite limited space, is built as a fully compliant wet room, complete with moisture-resistant panels, a prefabricated shower, and carefully planned plumbing and electrical systems to meet safety standards.
Throughout the build, the couple leans heavily on reclaimed and repurposed materials. Old furniture parts become custom coat and shoe racks, while salvaged wood finds new purpose as shelving and trim. Even an old ladder is restored and reused as a decorative feature, adding texture and a sense of history to the space. These choices don’t just reduce waste—they give the apartment personality.
Design consistency plays a major role in making the small interior feel intentional rather than cramped. Thoughtful lighting, cohesive color choices, and clean transitions between materials help define spaces without overwhelming them.
