A couple bought a £20,000 abandoned bedroom house in a tiny Italian mountain village - with just seven permanent residents. Elinor Molinari, 29, and Juri Gianfrancesco, 30, bought the 200-square-metre property in village Ciaccarone, in the region of Molise, southern Italy, for €23,000 (£20,000). The three-bedroom property had been on the market for a decade after the family who owned it struggled to find a buyer - but the couple fell in love with the home despite the state it is in - seeing it as a blank canvas. They will start renovating in October and estimate they will spend €150,000 (£130,000) to transform it into their home and bed and breakfast.
