Many kendo practitioners struggle with issoku itto no maai, often stepping too close because they feel the distance is too far. ⚠️ But this creates poor habits and incorrect strikes.

As motodachi, your role is clear: maintain the correct distance and allow your partner to strike with proper monouchi. Don’t let them cheat the distance—teach them to trust their reach and execute correctly.
