🌊 All Hands on Deck for the Great Barrier Reef Baby Boom! 🌙

Corals are special in their development from infancy to adulthood. For a few days each year, when conditions are just right, coral reefs bursts into new life in one of the most extraordinary natural phenomena on the planet known as coral spawning.

Last night, tourism operators and local marine industries in Cairns and Port Douglas joined forces with scientists from the Australian Institute of Marine Science to learn the cutting-edge restoration technique Coral IVF during the remarkable coral spawning event.

This overnight mission to capture millions of coral eggs and sperm in specially designed floating larval pools, aims to support the Reef’s natural regeneration process to give this natural wonder a fighting chance against the impacts of climate change.

This partnership showcases the power of collaboration—combining tourism expertise, local knowledge, and scientific innovation to scale up reef restoration efforts like never before.

Together, we’re turning science into action for the future of our Reef.
