The Great Barrier Reef can feel both expansive and intimate.
For those of us lucky people who have plunged under the ocean’s surface, our world is open to wonder. Turtles swim by as they surface for air.
Fish swim curiously over. In the depths below are the humbling shadows of sharks and rays. Parrotfish can be heard scraping at the rock. At certain times of year, you can even be serenaded by passing humpback whale song. It’s an awakening of the senses – a 360o immersion.
Once you visit the Reef, it’s hard not to be moved by the experience. There’s a sense of excitement, curiosity and awe that stays with you, inviting a deeper connection to both ourselves and the world around us.
How do you feel when you think about the Reef?
