A new underwater technology is giving seagrass meadows, and the Reef, a chance to recover at scale. Meet Mako, an uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV), developed by Ulysses, that uses a small robotic drill to place seeds directly into the sediment.

What is seagrass used for? These underwater forests play a powerful role in keeping the Reef healthy – providing food, resting and breeding grounds for marine life like dugongs and sea turtles, absorbing and storing vast amounts of carbon​, improving water quality and stabilising sediments.
