COPPERHEAD QC
My Copperheads looked great, and, in the spring pistols, shot fine. And like the Daisy standard BBs, are nearly EVERYWHERE you shop for BB ammo.
They are smaller than other styles, including the Black Widows. I would consider Copperheads fun ammo. Plinking or spraying out of a CO2 gun. the WD-40 coating will STOP the reported problems I have heard.
TACKLING THE RUSTY BBs
After the video, I did take the BBs rusting away in the bag and cleaned them with WD-40 from the video. 8 out of 10 came out surprisingly well.
(1) I laid them on a paper towel and sprayed them.
(2) Folded over the towel and started rubbing away.
(3) I repeated this process a few times.
(4) Sprayed final protective coating and let it dry.
The black mold or corrosion was devastating to 2 BBs. I shot them all through my DX-17 with a few really flying wild. So, ideally, please TREAT your new BBs not save damaged ones. I mean that turned out ok, but 2 of those I would never consider putting in a pump rifle or Red Ryder
THE TREATED BBs
The 6 BBs that got the WD-40 coating shot great out of the DX-17. They would be fine in Ryder type or pump gun. This coating would also armor Daisy standard BBs well. I haven't had a issue with rusting BBs, but if this has been a problem for others, use the WD-40 Specialist right away.
You can try these BBs below designed to be close to rust proof. At $5 retail, for 2500 shots, it is a good deal. But watch the taxes and shipping for total cost. Just know I saw no better accuracy than standard Daisy BBs or these Copperheads. But if rust prevention is your PRIORTY, these are super stars!
