I recorded this ukulele video on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Ritidian Beach on Guam. It is difficult video taping in the shade with the bright sun shining on the ocean in the background. I'm usually too dark in such videos. This video was filmed mostly in shade, which came out surprisingly well I think. The palm trees add a nice tropical touch.
I am playing an Oscar Schmidt, model OU7TE, made in Indonesia, electric ukulele. I bought it online. The ukulele is handcrafted in Indonesia. Be careful if you go to buy one, because there's a much cheaper model made in China, that may not be as good quality. I've bought several of the Indonesian ukuleles and have never been displeased. The intonation is perfect. The quality is great and they look very nice, in my opinion. I also bought a hardshell case, also made in Indonesia by the same company.
I am wearing a colorful ukulele strap, which holds the ukulele around my neck, so my hands are free to work on my music, not also hold up the instrument while trying to perform. I really like the colorful strap and wear it even when I'm not playing, just because it looks so nice. I get it all online.
My amplifier is an AC-33 rosewood battery-powered acoustic amp, with a built-in loop function. That is how I record myself strumming first, and then add melody lines over the chords. It's a great tool for street musicians, a one man band so-to-speak. I really like it. I just wish Roland had included an SD card feature, so I could save ideas and things that I record. No doubt, they had to find a balance between functionality and affordability.
