This is a really pretty song played on the B11th tuning (treble to bass: E - C# - A - F# - D# - C# ). There's some tabs and this exact rhythm track on my website. I'm playing through an old Peavey Session 400 with no effects other than some reverb.
I recorded the background ocean waves on Thanksgiving Day, 2011. Those are the actual ocean sounds in the video. I am filming from a group of rocks on the shore. The waves are breaking out by the reef, and only smaller ripples make it to shore, breaking amongst the rocks. It came out very nice.
I'm learning how to use the green screen effect in my videos, which lets you replace the background with something else. It uses the "chroma key" feature in my program, "Magix Movie Edit Pro 16" (under $99). The green screen was $18. As you can see, I have a crinkle in my ocean...lol. You have to make sure that there's no wrinkles in your green screen or it'll show up in the video. I learned that with this video. It's interesting how you can remove the green light bandwidth from a video. You can remove black, white, or mixed colors; but green is a very narrow bandwidth in the light spectrum and thus doesn't affect the front image (me playing steel guitar in this case) as much. It's something different than the red sheet I always hang behind me, although that has worked very nicely.
I use a Goodrich volume pedal. I rebuilt it recently and used one of their new 500 K high-life pots (which is advertised to have one million cycles).
I am using an external cabinet with a 15" Black Widow 1501 speaker. I unplugged the internal JBL speaker for now. The tone in this long-scale 24 1/2" Jerry Byrd Frypan guitar is very nice. God is good to me.
