In this video, I explain how to power the Ring Intercom using a 5 V USB charger, including which pins the cable must be soldered to.
❗️❗️Update: you can use a normal diode to drop the 5V a little bit. Remember, the end with the line shoud be on the “ring” side in the positive wire.
Or you can use:
A Mini-360 buck (step-down) converter is used and adjusted to 4.5V before connecting it to the device. A small modification on the back of the unit is required to route the cable cleanly and keep the installation in its original position.
Battery is therefore no longer used. You can reverse it by simply cutting the wires or desoldering them. Then you can put the battery back and charge it every 24/48h 🙃 no dummy battery needed.
