Jade Pearson knew something was wrong the moment that three different doctors came into her routine prenatal appointment. At 18 weeks pregnant, the Milford resident was supported by her boyfriend and the care team at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Upon his arrival, physicians successfully performed the state's first implantation of a new device called a pediatric pulse generator with federal "compassionate use" approval, doctors said.
