The concrete steps going down to the covered firepit that I am building are going to be poured between the two existing walls of the retaining wall, which in some ways will be easier and in some ways will be harder because I can't get boards on the outside of the steps. I start by cutting 3 stair stringers on the cnc table. Once they are in position, I cut the risers for the stairs and attach them to the stringers. I bought a cheap concrete mixer for our skidsteer at an auction and I wanted to try mixing my own concrete for this pour. I add bags of concrete and water to the mixer, and then fill buckets which I carry over to the forms and pour in to the steps. I smooth out the steps with a mag float and use a safety step edger to round over the corner of the steps. After a couple days, I removed the forms and lastly applied a coat of concrete sealant to finish the steps.
