Here is my new DIY design for a custom compost red wiggler worm bin that also doubles as a garden grow box. Even though this is an outdoor setup, worms can actually survive the winter in one of these in my growing zone of Zone 6.

I've planted herbs & flowers in the front. Most recently I put in some perennial Alpine Strawberries! The roots have direct access to the nutrients from the vermicompost.

Cedar is a great wood to use, but it can be more costly. So instead, I've used treated lumber. Many advanced instructionals warn against using treated lumber. Here in the US, consumer grade treated wood does not contain arsenic or chromium anymore. Check my update videos to see if this has any impact the worms or herbs.
