This is a variant of a Sarrus Linkage. Sarrus Linkages usually suffer from amplification of joint play and lack of link rigidity. This design hopes to address both of those issues with short links and bearings at each bolted connection.
If L is the length of a short link from center to center then 2*(3^.5)*L is the max z travel. For the 60mm links pictured I can get 207mm of travel.
