Information is scarce on the Comet Mine. The site was first discovered in the late 1800s, although there is a date in the hoist house of 1946. What is known is that zinc and lead were the primary commodities mined here, in addition to Tungsten, Silver and Gold. The Comet Mining District also opened the Pan American mine a short distance away.
Most of the living structures are sadly dilapidated. Another heavy snowfall will, more than likely, collapse the remainder of the buildings.
There is a single-cylinder belt compressor in the hoist house, which is pretty impressive.
