Once a Paiute campground, the main mining in the area was talc. Deposits discovered in 1931 were mined from 1933 until 1988. This once-thriving camp, complete with a shop, mess hall, dormitory, houses and a swimming pool, lies in ruins. Broken windows, smashed doors and charred buildings are all that remains in this historical site.
Gold was discovered in 1939 and a mill was erected.
Opposite, in rock dating back 1.7 billion years, was a small fluorite mine. The remains of a small tramway connecting the three levels can still be seen on the mountainside.
Due to continuous vandalism, we are not giving out the name or location of this camp.
