10-day time-lapse of a Coleus blumei seed germinating into a sprout. The mucilage coating/halo developed quickly (within an hour), similar to basil. While these seeds are small (1-2 mm), watching them develop halos under a dissecting microscope would be a fun lab activity for students of any age.
