Ten-day time-lapse video of a Holy Basil (also known as Tulsi) (scientific name, Ocimum tenuiflorum) seed germinating. It first secreted mucilage, which I captured over the first few hours. At day four, the seed changed shape and the shoot emerged. The leaves showed three days later. I placed the seed on worm castings that had been flooded with dilute agar to help keep the seed from migrating while filming. This batch had a lot of nematode activity, which you can see throughout the video.
