Three of the four prominent English colonists buried in the chancel of the Jamestown colony's first church were interred in coffins. The following short film details the discovery of these coffins, and reviews how the archaeologists at Jamestown digitally recorded the coffin nails. With the wood largely absent due to decomposition, it was up to the archaeologist to carefully record the coffin nail patterns in order to discern the shapes of the coffins.
