This short film describes the conservation of a "Jack of Plate" discovered in James Fort on Jamestown Island in Virginia. The "Jack of Plate" was a coat of small armor plates sewn into a canvas vest. The plates overlapped one another, which provided for protection against Virginia Indian arrows. This particular "Jack of Plate" was thrown away into a shallow pit around 1610.
