Kits World | Cocoon | Film Review @kitsworld | Uploaded August 2020 | Updated October 2024, 11 hours ago.
Cocoon, directed by Ron Howard, and starring Don Ameche, Wilford Brimley, Hume Cronyn, Brian Dennehy, Steve Guttenberg, Maureen Stapleton, Jessica Tandy, Gwen Verdon, Tahnee Welch, and Barret Oliver, is a classic science-fiction fantasy, bringing together the talents of a spectacular cast of veteran actors, alongside an attractive and sexy cast of up-and-comers.
This was the film that introduced the eleven-year-old me to the concept of foreplay, sex in swimming pools, and prunes to help you poo.
It is a much beloved piece of 1980's nostalgia, rich and evocative of sweet, innocent memories from the happier days of my youth.
The magnificent music by James Horner has been playing on-and-off in my head ever since the mid 80's, and that's fine by me. It's the ultimate pick-me-up; perfect for these troubled times.
