When starting out with to and fro double knitting, one of the tricky points is how to close the edges (if so desired). When working with one yarn in each hand it is possible to link the yarns as you turn the work without creating twists or letting go of either yarn. Here I show the actions required, which depend on which hand is holding the yarn attached to the last nearside stitch.
To practice this I suggest working on a thin strip of DK about 5 pairs wide to experience frequent end of row situations.
As will all things in double knitting you have choices, and edges may be left open (one or both) or closed (one or both).
