The James Beard Foundation® (JBF) announced on February 20th the launch of a new campaign focused on tackling the significant impact of climate change on independent restaurants, chefs, and the community economies they support. Through the “Climate Solutions for Restaurant Survival” campaign, the James Beard Foundation will unite chefs across the country to raise awareness, educate federal policy makers, and galvanize action to mitigate the impacts of climate change impacts.
This virtual briefing was specifically designed for members of congress. We shared key elements of the research informing the campaign. The speakers included Dr. Anne E. McBride, Director of Programs at the James Beard Foundation, Dr. Tara Scully, Curriculum Director at the Global Food Institute at the George Washington University, Emma Jagoz, owner of Moon Valley Farm, and Chef Mavis-Jay Sanders.
