On Tuesday, February 20, the James Beard Foundation hosted a press event in partnership with chefs and farmers affected by climate change. This event kicked off a new impactful campaign to shed light on how climate change poses an immediate threat to the independent restaurant industry and the millions of people that it employs and communities it supports. Deploying the voices of chefs and culinary leaders from across the country, the campaign will educate federal policymakers on the urgent need for action.

Presented by James Beard Foundation CEO Clare Reichenbach and chefs affected by climate change, the event also highlighted the critical economic importance of the independent restaurant industry, release a joint new report from the James Beard Foundation and the Global Food Institute at the George Washington University that underscores the urgent need for action, and kick off a series of activities to educate lawmakers about the need for critical support now.
