Hey guys! Hope you had a great time during the Holidays!
This is the final project I had to do for the post-graduate animation course I took. During a drought in late Jurassic North America, an Ornitholestes sits up a tree to enjoy a nice dino-drumstick. The smell however attracts a young Allosaurus, that looks to practice Cleptoparasitism and steal the prize.
I had about 2 months to do the whole thing, and I learned that there's "perfection in imperfection", meaning that you can still get interesting results with the most mundane materials and leaving mistakes/unfinished areas in to get a cool look. The tree is a cardboard box I tore, the ground is sandpaper, the sky is tile and the impact frame is styrofoam I painted.
And ofc, there's 2D animation done digitally (if Disney refuses to do 2D for their movies, I'll do my part to keep the fire alive!). The main exception being that the characters are painted messily, out of the outlines, to give it a unique touch that I later used for expressions.
As for the sound? With the exception of a Lion King growl at the end, the dinosaur noises are just me with a plastic bucket lol
Music is from the anime Spy x Family. If I send this to a festival, I'll need a composer to do an OST in this vain. I'll look into that.
