“Chugaibh chugaibh uisce salach”
Last night I shared a story with you about how my mother had a little verse that was said when water was being thrown out on All Souls Night years ago - a warning not to “wet the souls”. Anyway - I told the story on Saturday in Clonmel and a woman from Mayo who was there (Mary Caulfield) told me her version after the talk. I’d heard it before in Mayo but always great to get another version as hers was said on New Year’s night. In fact, she’d still say it to herself if she was ever throwing out water to to this day. She shared other stories with me too around keening but I’ll share this one with you first.
