This 69-minute piece was recorded by chance in Valentia after a public meeting was called for people to come along and share their stories of the Cable Station on the island. Once people arrived, everyone settled around a table, and as Michael started to ask a few questions, these three men began to chat and share stories.
Immediately, he saw an opportunity and quickly organised the three men together and set his camera up. The rest of the group stayed behind the camera, and what we get is a live interview and conversation in which the men share their stories while also entertaining the audience.

This recording was created as part of a wider Oral History and Research Project conducted by Michael for a project entitled 'Stories around the Cable'. The project was undertaken by Michael with the support of Creative Ireland, the National Monuments Service and Kerry County Council.
The series of video interviews aims to highlight various local stories and preserve the voices and histories of the people who are connected to the island and its past. Thanks to everyone involved in helping share these histories and stories.
