I take my viewers to Port de Grave, Newfoundland to see the fishing boats all decked out with Christmas lights. A little history about this event for you:
The Town of Port de Grave has been a must-visit for folks looking for holiday cheer during the Christmas season for years.
Each year vessel owners adorn their boats with lights, attracting hundreds—if not thousands—of people to take in the sights through the season.
Now there’s another reason to take a dart down to Port de Grave harbour. A group of fishermen joined with the Port de Grave Peninsula Heritage Society to build the largest crab pot Christmas tree in all of Atlantic Canada.
Blair Petten provided some of the 475 pots that went into the giant display. He says they built it based on a similar tree that’s been part of the town’s Christmas display for the last few years. This year, they even put decorations on it.
The crab pot tree is located next to St. Mark’s Heritage Church and the Cannon Richard’s Tea Room in Port de Grave.
