Why do atheists focus on Christianity and not other religions? A Christian caller named Jared came on to ask exactly that - and got a straight answer in the first ninety seconds.
Then he changes the subject to what the Bible teaches him about being a good person (17:09), and one verse later he quits the call mid-question.
In this call-in clip, taken on @SkepticHaven, Jared asks why atheists "only go against Christianity" instead of Islam, Buddhism, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. He gets four answers: other religions don't call into our call-in shows; the country is 60% Christian; Christian nationalism is the sect currently writing law here; and this show hosted an ex-Muslim and still got mostly Christian callers.
Jared engages with none of it. Asked whether he has been listening, he answers, "The second one." Then he pivots - "the Bible is teaching me how to be a better person, not a worse person" - and the call turns into a Bible study he did not want.
Exodus 21 says you may beat a slave as long as they don't die within three days. Jared's answer is the oldest dodge in apologetics: "That's the Old Testament, and that's not what Jesus-" So he gets to read Matthew 5:18: "Not the smallest letter passes from the law until all is accomplished." Then Luke 14:26: you cannot be Jesus' disciple unless you hate your father, mother, wife, and children. Jared's last position is that it's "poetry." Twenty seconds later, he leaves.
