Recorded outside the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky, this Godless Engineer talk argues that young earth creationism isn't bad science — it's manufactured ignorance, "a coal rolling rig for the American mind." We cover the Answers in Genesis statement of faith, flood geology and the sorted fossil record, radiometric dating and the age of the earth, the Ark Encounter's tourism tax incentives and Williamstown's debt, school vouchers, the new Ten Commandments classroom laws, and the religious trauma the machine is engineered to produce.
• THE PIPELINE: "Were you there?" is the line creationism trains kids to say. It grew up — today it goes by "do your own research." Same reflex, same wiring, same switch, now aimed at climatologists and election officials.
• THE MONEY: Kentucky handed this operation up to $18 million in tourism tax incentives. Williamstown floated the financing on a boom that never came — the town got the debt, the ministry got the ark. Then, when the town asked for 50 cents a ticket for its own emergency services, the ministry sold the ark to itself for $10 to dodge the fee.
• THE COST: kids taught that accepting geology means losing Jesus, family and home don't experience the evidence as learning. They experience it as dying. The panic attacks are not an accident. And if you're still inside that fear: the question will not damn you, and you are allowed to put it down.
• THE CLOSING ARGUMENT: a story where drowning every child on earth is righteous because authority commanded it is not a morality lesson — it's obedience training. They built a 500-foot monument to it: a memorial to the drowning of the world's children, with a petting zoo.
