@DavesVintageApplTech gifted the channel a Chips & Technology 286 motherboard. One that was given by Chips to an employee to celebrate the release of the motherboard, if I have the story correct. It is new old stock (NOS), and at first glance it looks new, except for the missing NiCad battery.
About that battery: it leaked. And while it seems to have spared the top side of the motherboard, there are four little broken traces (Ah! Ah! Ah! *Thunderclap*) on the bottom of the board.
If I'm going to build an era-appropriate computer in what I believe used to be an AT clone computer (before getting re-painted and made into a 486 for me to buy at VCF East 2023 consignment), I need to get busy repairing those broken traces.
Will I successfully repair the four little broken traces? Will I find additional damage? Will the board throw a temper tantalum? You'll have to watch to find out!
