Cherax is a genus of freshwater crayfish native to Australia, Papua New Guinea, and parts of Indonesia. They are commonly found in rivers, lakes, and swamps.
Most species grow between 10–25 cm (4–10 inches), depending on the type.

Generally peaceful but territorial, especially with their own kind. Require good water quality and hiding spots
