During his time at Games Workshop Tuomas Pirinen worked closely with John Blanche to redesign Warhammer Fantasy for its 6th edition, taking it back to its more darkly fantastic roots. The team also created Mordheim, the enduring game of fantasy skirmish.
Amongst the many revolutionary changes ushered in by Tuomas were a redefinition of the forces of Chaos - no longer a mixed army of warriors, beastmen, and daemons, but instead 3 distinct chaotic hosts - as well as a complete overhaul of the magic system.
This is my conversation with Tuomas about those major changes to Chaos and Warhammer magic: the reasons for them and they way they were delivered.
I've previously spoken with Tuomas on the general development of Warhammer 6th edition and his master work, Mordheim, in an interview available exclusively to my Patrons - join now to gain access to that interview as well as other exclusive conversations and extended discussions with Rick Priestley and Gav Thorpe.

![KONRAD: The First Epic Trilogy In Warhammer Fantasy! | GW Book Club 05
Were reading Konrad, the first adventure in an epic trilogy set in Warhammer’s Old World. There’s chaos mutants, gruff sellswords, female dwarfs, and a sojourn in Kislev, and all of it seems to lead to a destiny planned by the gods - Sigmar or others.
In GW Book Club my friend Stu and I explore classic fiction from the worlds of Warhammer, 40k, and Dark Future.
This tale follows the young Konrad through a series of increasingly random encounters with little to show for it and even fewer answers!

![Illustrating Warhammer | Adrian Smith in Conversation with Jordan Sorcery
In an incredible career artist Adrian Smith has produced some of the most iconic Games Workshop art for the worlds of 40k and Warhammer Fantasy.
From his early work drawing playful Nurglings and dramatic scenes for the Realm of Chaos to his unforgettable renderings of Warmaster Horus and the Emperor of Mankind in their final encounter, and countless incredible book, box, and game besides, Smith has helped to define the look and feel of Games Workshop.
In the years since leaving GW Smith has produced a huge volume of work for wargames like Chronopia and several board games from CMON, including The Others, Rising Sun, and most recently a game inspired by his own comic book The Chronicles of Hate.
In conversation with Adrian Smith we talk the history, the process, and the future of making art for tabletop games, and some of the greatest art from Games Workshop’s past.

![GW Video Games | Tomas Rawlings in Conversation with Jordan Sorcery
In conversation with Tomas Rawlings we talk about the culture, behaviours, and perceptions of the video game and tabletop gaming hobbies and industries. As an exceptional thinker on the nature of gaming Tomas has given TED talks, consulted across the video games industry, written tabletop games, and co-founded his own games studio, Auroch Digital, to push the boundaries of what games can mean.
In more recent times Tomas and Auroch have adapted classic Games Workshop titles like Chainsaw Warrior and Dark Future for the video game market. And in their latest release they have taken the Warhammer 40,000 universe and refracted it through the lens of retro first person shooters with Boltgun.
We talk about the past, the future, and the value of gaming in society.

Were reading Krokodil Tears, the second novel set in Games Workshops post-apocalyptic-cyber-goth Dark Future setting that was inspired by Mad Max, Blade Runner, Judge Dredd, 80s action & horror movies, and a little bit of Cthulhu.
Written by Kim Newman under the pen name Jack Yeovil and released in 1991 Krokodil Tears raises the stakes for the fate of the world, and expands on the dangerous characters that inhabit it.
In GW Book Club my friend Stu and I make our way through the 17 original books published by Games Workshop between 1989 and 1991.
