Center for People's Media: Social news and labor campaign training:
In 2016 the Center for People's Media (CPM) was awarded the Big Ideas Art & Social Change grant. Also known under its organization name People's Media Advocacy, Asia (PMAA), CPM is based in Manila, with the mission to promote public dialogue about labor and economic issues in Southeast Asia. This dialogue has real impact, often revealing labor violations and leading to the resolution of labor disputes. CPM has worked in the Philippines since 2015, partnering with the largest labor coalition in the country (United/Nagkaisa) to train workers to produce social news. To increase our reach and address issues of sustainability, CPM has recently expanded from its grant-funded social news to holding paid campaigns trainings with regional and global unions.
