Is this the God that Caesar was referring to when he spoke of the main God of the Celts. Some say that Odin and Lugus were the same God and Odin was Lugh's latter Germanic counter part. There are definitely some interesting similarities.
He was often depicted as a Triadic God and some feel that he may represent the sum of the tree gods that Lucan spoke about in his epic The Pharsalia. Ludwig Rübekeil suggests that Lugus was a triune god, comprising of the three Gods Gods that Lucan had refered to, Esus, Toutatis and Taranis.
The majority of the known inscriptions dedicated to Lugus come from the Iberian Peninsula but his Importance is shown by the use of his name for towns and cities throughout the Celtic lands:
Lugdunum - Lyon - "Fort of Lugus"
The province of Gallia Lugdunensis - France
Luguvalium - Carlisle, Cumbria, Britain - "City of Lugus"
