Cecilie Smith-Christensen is an economist based in Norway. She has a strong interest in collaborative finance and mutual aid. She now uses them in a personal project she started after recently being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
In her work and engagement with international organisations including UNESCO and the World Heritage Convention, Cecilie has been an outspoken advocate for commons-based approaches and the need to transition from extractive to a regenerative development paradigm. In her work through World Heritage Catalysis she specifically focuses on the need to enhance the resilience of tourism-dependent communities vulnerable to disruptions and the extractive nature of the tourism economy.
As a consequence of her diagnosis, Cecilie is now taking her work experience and international network to relevance through the ResiliNets initiative, specifically exploring how collaborative finance and mutual aid could help build networked resilience based on personal needs and care for dependants.
