Now after the opening of the game, and the knowledge from Mathias that Leon's betrothed Sara was kidnapped, Leon Belmont now stormed through the dark forest and towards the evil castle that his beloved future wife was kidnapped to.

Along the way, he was met by an older man: Rinaldo Gandolfi. He wanted to talk to Leon about his mission.
----------

In Rinaldo's cottage, he explained to Leon that he had a fight to finish against Walter Bernhard, the dark forest's master, and the vampire that kidnapped Sara.

Apparently, although Rinaldo is trying to defeat Walter, Walter is amused with his aim that he'll allow him to help any hunters try to bring him down, including Leon.

Rinaldo wanted to give him a weapon to help Leon out: The Whip of Alchemy. It's his strongest weapon against monsters.

Part of the help with the creation of this whip was thanks to Rinaldo's teamwork with Mathias, which Leon didn't know about. This was a secret practice as alchemy was considered a blasphemy.

Rinaldo also used a magic spell to give Leon a parry technique against the monsters that can collect their power with relics.

Lastly, the rest he can do is sell items and equipment to Leon, should he have the funds for them, that is.
----------

Going inside the castle, you'll reach the main hub: Prelude into the Dark Abyss.

The game first forces you through a tutorial path to learn the game's controls. Leon can do a small and big attack with the Whip of Alchemy. He can even double jump (and jumps here are VERY Devil May Cry-like).

The Whip can also be used to snag certain objects and surfaces for a boost jump.

When fighting against enough, when their next attack first has them sparkle in purple, then guarding it will give you MP. You can then spend that MP on any Relics that you find, such as the Svarog Statue, which gives Leon flaming footsteps.

When you're done with the tutorial, you can access the first Save Room. You can save your progress, but it only recovers your HP and not your MP.

When you're ready, head to the room that wields the entrances into the 5 areas of this game.
