Just a little more than a more ago before this post, Konami released the Castlevania Dominus Collection. Its main inclusions where the entire Nintendo DS trilogy of the series (Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, & Order of Ecclesia).
HOWEVER, I was focused more on its bonus games. Not only a port of the arcade game: Haunted Castle, but also a completely new remake of that same game called "Haunted Castle Revisited".
This Revisited version was developed by M2. They have worked on previous Castlevania collections, but their most significant contribution was the WiiWare game Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth.
Haunted Castle Revisited definitely takes after their work on Adventure Revisited, and nonetheless, this remake is the first "new" Castlevania game in years.

Haunted Castle, in both its original and remake form, seem like a a retelling of the original Castlevania game.
Simon Belmont had just married his beloved wife Selena, and they were now out for a honeymoon.
But them, the evil Count Dracula appeared and kidnapped Selena, planning to use her for some kind of sacrifice.
Filled with HOLY RAGE, the blue-haired Simon changed into his warrior outfit, brandished his Vampire Killer whip, and began his quest to hunt the night, storm Dracula's Haunted Castle, and take back his wife.

First off, it's nice that this game not only name each stage, but the song that they play in them. Haunted Castle's main theme is "Cross Your Heart" and starts Simon with roaming through an evil Graveyard.
Second, this game has the whippiest whip that has ever whipped a whip! That sound is AWESOME.
Third, this remake is a massive improvement over the original. At times, it feels less like a remake of Haunted Castle and just moreso a sequel to ReBirth like what I brought up before.
Simon can upgrade his whip, here, and at maximum charge, it becomes as long and powerful as it can be, but only for a few seconds or until he gets hit.

The boss of this first stage is against Medusa, be aware of the colorful sparks she makes. If she flashes purple from her eyes, she's gonna go for a tail whip. Meanwhile, a blue flash from the tip of her tail means she's gonna sic a baby snake at you.
