- Cartoon Network Racing (PlayStation 2) - Quick Race Mode -
Cartoon Network Racing is a 2006 kart racing game for the PlayStation 2, developed by Eutechnyx and published by The Game Factory. Built around several classic Cartoon Network shows, it brings characters from Dexter’s Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, I Am Weasel, and Courage the Cowardly Dog into a familiar arcade racing format.
The idea is simple: choose a character, race through colorful tracks, use power-ups, and try to finish ahead of the rest of the cartoon cast. It clearly follows the kart racing formula, with accessible handling, themed circuits, and items designed to create chaos during the race. The PS2 version also includes a driver-and-co-driver setup in two-player mode, which gives it a small extra twist beyond the usual single-character kart racer structure.
The strongest appeal is the license. Seeing these characters together gives the game an immediate nostalgic pull, especially if you grew up with Cartoon Network during that era. The roster leans heavily on older shows, which makes the game feel like a specific celebration of the channel’s late-1990s and early-2000s identity rather than a complete Cartoon Network crossover.
As a racer, it is more modest. The controls, track design, and overall speed do not reach the level of the best kart racers on the PlayStation 2, and the structure is very familiar. At the same time, it is easy to understand, colorful, and harmlessly entertaining when approached as a licensed cartoon racer rather than a serious competitor to the genre’s strongest titles.
For fans of the shows, Cartoon Network Racing has some charm. It is not one of the system’s great racing games, and its limitations are easy to see, but the character roster and cartoon presentation give it a reason to exist. As a PlayStation 2 licensed racer, it works best as a nostalgic curiosity: simple, limited, but enjoyable enough if the Cartoon Network cast is the main reason you are here.
