Cartoon Breakups/Relationships that ended badly:
Starting off we have Mordecai & Starla from Regular Show. The truth is, he kinda went out with her impulsively after attempting to get her back with muscle man when she fell in love with him. He didn’t wanna break her heart but he eventually got sick of it all so he broke up with her, to which Starla didn’t take lightly.
Up next is Finn & Flame Princess from Adventure Time. Finn’s obsession with the Ice King unfortunately led him to trick Flame Princess into battling him. This betrayal understandably shattered her trust, leading to one of the most immediate and firm breakups.
Next up is Gwen and Trent in Total Drama. Gwen had to break things off due to Trent developing severe paranoia and jealousy. It got to the point where his desperate attempts to prove his love, including throwing challenges for her team, made her feel too suffocated and manipulated.
We certainly can’t forget Cartman & Heidi from South Park. One of the darkest and most toxic relationships in adult animation. Cartman being the emotional manipulative Cartman he is was so severe that he eventually turned his girlfriend into a carbon copy of his own toxic & hateful personality.
And finally we have the likes of Beast Boy & Terra from Teen Titans. For sure one of the most heartbreaking as Beast Boy's unconditional love was met with agonizing betrayal when Terra sided with Slade. While she ultimately sacrificed herself to save the city, her memory wipe meant their relationship died a permanent painful death. This being the way the show ended made too just things worse. But the title says it all. Things Change.
